  The variations of the same surname ZHILIN,ZILIONIS,ZILENAS originated about 300 years ago from the name of lake ZHILI in Oshmena,Belarus. Somebody indicates some duke Zhilin  lived in the 17th century,but I  did not find any Zhilin in the encyclopedia of Russian nobles.I made up a gen.table only of descendants of my  greatgrandfather Jonas Zilionis. A gen.table of  another Zilionis&#039;  branch is made up by  Gintaras@Zilionis.lt    My greatgreatgrandfather Zhilin is described in "The prisoner of Caucasus" by L.Tolstoy. Some members of this family are described in  Lith.and Russian encyclopedias. They must be our relatives,because my grandfather mentioned them. Three brothers of my grandfather emigrated to England.
